The Dream of Gerontius

Edward Elgar’s profoundly beautiful setting of Cardinal Newman’s poem describes the journey of Gerontius and the progress of his soul through judgement, purgatory and on to his promised redemption. This year, with a line up of prestiguous soloists, Derby Bach Choir are proud to present The Dream of Gerontius.

 

We welcome Andrew Kennedy and Christopher Maltman, both well-known past winners of the Cardiff Singer of the World competition, who will be appearing together in this concert. Christopher opened the proms with Belshazzar this season so this promises to be a high calibre performance in Derby. We will be supported once again by the Derby Bach Orchestra, led by Derek Williams.
